Description:

This course provides an introduction to the various methods and interpretive approaches used to read and appreciate the texts of Ancient Israel and early Christianity that have been canonized as the Bible.

The textbook provides a broad overview of historical, hermeneutical, sociological and other interpretive methods for reading and understanding the biblical texts. The class will supplement the basic textbook readings with illustrative selections from the Bible.
